Free Online Currency Converter

The converter contains 39 selectable fiat currencies, from USD, EUR, and GBP to MXN, BRL, and COP. The interface displays the exact dataset date used for each result.

Data comes from the open-source fawazahmed0/exchange-api project through our proxy. These are informational reference rates, not buy or sell quotes, and they exclude your provider's spread and fees.

How to Use Our Currency Converter

Using our free online currency converter is straightforward. First, select your source currency from the left dropdown menu - for example, US Dollar (USD). Then, choose your target currency from the right dropdown, such as Euro (EUR) or Mexican Peso (MXN). Enter the amount you want to convert, and the result appears instantly. You can also swap currencies with a single click to perform the reverse conversion. The quick reference table displays common conversion amounts for the selected pair, which is especially helpful when you need to check multiple values at once for travel budgets or freelance invoicing.

Exchange Rate Sources

The application tries a primary source and a replica of the same project when the first does not respond. The browser keeps a response for 30 minutes and the proxy may cache it for one hour. Check the displayed date and obtain a quote from your provider before making a transaction.

Tips for International Money Transfers

Compare the final amount the recipient receives rather than an advertised fee alone. Effective cost combines the applied rate, spread, fixed fees, and any intermediary-bank charges.

The guide to converting currencies and comparing offers uses a worked example to separate the reference rate, spread, and fees.

Why Exchange Rates Fluctuate

A currency's price changes constantly because it responds to supply and demand in international markets. Central-bank interest rates, inflation, political stability, a country's trade balance, and investor expectations all play a part. That is why the same pair can move several times in a single day. The rates shown here are daily reference values: they help you get oriented, but the exact value of a transaction depends on the moment and on the provider that executes it.

Exchanging Currency While Traveling

When paying abroad, always choose to be charged in the local currency rather than your own: the dynamic currency conversion (DCC) offered by some card terminals and ATMs usually applies a worse rate. Comparing the amount against a reference rate like the one here helps you spot excessive fees. Paying with a no-foreign-fee card or withdrawing cash from a local bank's ATM network usually beats exchanging money at the airport, where the margin is highest.

A worked example

The currency converter with 1250 US dollars in the amount field, converted to 1,071.58 euros, showing the rate 1 USD = 0.85727 EUR and a quick-reference table of common amounts.
1,250 USD converted at the daily reference rate captured on 25 August 2026: 0.85727 EUR per dollar, giving 1,071.58 EUR. That is a mid-market reference rate, which is why the number will not match your bank statement β€” card issuers and remittance services apply their own spread on top of it, and the rate itself is dated rather than live.

What this tool did when we measured it

Two things showed up in a single sitting that have nothing to do with the rates being stale. On the 28 August 2026 data, this page prints 1 EUR = 1.16460 USD and 1 USD = 0.85867 EUR β€” multiply those and you get 1.000007082, about 7 parts per million, because five decimals cannot represent both directions of one rate exactly. And routing EUR β†’ USD β†’ GBP against EUR β†’ GBP, looked up in the same sitting, does not agree with going direct: 0.0589% apart β€” 5.05 GBP on 10,000 EUR, with no fee and no spread in sight. Which route sits closer to the market this measurement cannot say; what it does say is that the two cannot both be right.
